Networks

A complex network is one of the central notions of our time, an explosion of interest to networks is a social and cultural phenomenon which arrived at the end of last century, see e.g. review [1]. Systems, which have the form of network are numerous: these are the internet, www, neural networks, metabolic networks, transportation networks, food webs, distribution networks (such as blood vessels or postal delivery routes), social networks of communication between people, networks of citation between papers and many, many others. Physicists started an empirical and theoretical analysis of networks only very recently, seminal papers are dated by late 1990th. In our studies, we address both entire topological properties of complex networks (studying real-world public transport networks and their models, with particular emphasis on their attack vulnerability [2,3] or analyzing small-world and scaling properties of networks of words in human language [4] and co-authorship [5]) as well as we are interested in ordering phenomena of complex scale-free networks [6].
